When we take the sacrament, we are to remember and renew our covanents. The following are the two sacramental prayers:
O God, the Eternal Father, we ask thee in the name of thy Son, Jesus Christ, to bless and sanctify this bread to the souls of all those who partake of it, that they may eat in remembrance of the body of thy Son, and witness unto thee, O God, the Eternal Father, that they are willing to take upon them the name of thy Son, and always remember him and keep his commandments which he has given them; that they may always have his Spirit to be with them. Amen.
O God, the Eternal Father, we ask thee in the name of thy Son, Jesus Christ, to bless and sanctify this wine to the souls of all those who drink of it, that they may do it in remembrance of the blood of thy Son, which was shed for them; that they may witness unto thee, O God, the Eternal Father, that they do always remember him, that they may have his Spirit to be with them. Amen.
We are to remember Christ and who we are as Christians including our devine nature and individual worth. When we are baptized, we promise to not only to keep the commandments but to help others in need. Christ taught that the first great commandment is to love God with all our hearts, and the second is to love our neighbors.
For Personal Progress, I am supposed to do something each day for 2 weeks to remember these things. For about 6 months now, I've had the Christian music channel on in the car so I listen to it to and from work everyday. It has helped me reflect, ponder, feel the spirit, and be in a more positive mood (even if I am not in a very positive one). It also reminds me that there are others out there that are good people and that the gospel is going forward. It inspires me to try to be a better person and to share the gospel as well.
